A Spotlight That Tilts a Full 90°
The 1901 Rotatable Spotlight is the semi recessed member of Collingwood's 1901 range. Rather than sitting flush like a standard downlight, its round ceiling plate holds a slim cylinder that drops below the surface, so the head is free to tilt a full 90° and rotate through 360°. Once it's fitted you can point it at whatever needs highlighting, then leave it there.
White Housing, Black Baffle
This version pairs a white ceiling plate with a black baffle inside the cylinder, so the housing blends with a plain ceiling while the aperture itself reads as a neat dark ring rather than a bright rim. The cylinder measures around 51mm across and drops roughly 109mm below the ceiling plate, held in place by two spring clips into a 64 to 68mm cut out.
How It Works
Each fitting runs the 9.6W 1901 LED engine at CRI90+, so colours and skin tones look natural rather than washed out. Choose 2700K extra warm white at around 600 lumens, 3000K warm white at around 625 to 650 lumens, or 4000K cool white at around 725 to 750 lumens, plus a dim to warm option that shifts down towards 1800K as you lower the dimmer. Beam angle is a separate choice too, 12°, 24° or 50°, with a 45° option available alongside dim to warm.
Dimming, whether mains, 1-10V or DALI, is handled by a driver that's supplied with the fitting and wired in via cable to match whichever method you've chosen. Aluminium construction keeps the fitting light while the plug and play connectors keep first and second fix straightforward.
Where It Works Best
Being IP44 rated, it's built to handle a bit of moisture as well as dry rooms, so it suits bathroom zone 2 alongside living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, offices, stairwells and commercial spaces. Read more about which zones a fitting like this can go in on Moonlight's bathroom lighting zones guide. The tilt and rotate head makes it a useful choice anywhere you want to aim light at something specific, a mirror, a shower recess or a feature wall, rather than just flooding the room evenly from above.
Collingwood: Sealed for Life Since 2002
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED fittings from Sywell in Northamptonshire, where the brand has specialised in LED technology since 2002. This spotlight's IP44 rating sits close to that focus: Collingwood states it was among the first manufacturers to bring fully sealed, waterproof for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, alongside mains dimmable and fire rated ranges. The company has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
How far can the head of this spotlight tilt and rotate?
The head tilts a full 90° and rotates through 360°, so it can be aimed at almost any point within reach of the ceiling void rather than only pointing straight down.
Is this spotlight suitable for a bathroom?
Yes. It's IP44 rated, which covers bathroom zone 2, as well as kitchens, hallways and living rooms.
Is this spotlight fire rated?
Not on its own. Collingwood's BDLFH2 fire hood accessory needs to be added if a fire rating is required for the ceiling construction.
What's the difference between this and a fully recessed downlight?
This one is semi recessed, so the cylinder drops below the ceiling plate rather than sitting flush. That's what allows the head to tilt and rotate rather than staying fixed straight down.
What beam angle options are available?
12°, 24° or 50°, with a 45° option available alongside the dim to warm colour temperature setting.
Does it come with a dimmer driver included?
Yes. A driver is supplied with the fitting and wired in via cable, matched to whichever dimming method you choose: mains, 1-10V or DALI.
