A Spotlight That Sits Proud of the Ceiling
This is the semi recessed version of Collingwood's 1901 rotatable spotlight, finished all black. Rather than sitting flush like a standard downlight, the cylindrical head sits part way into a 64 to 68mm cutout and projects below the ceiling line. That proud profile gives it more shape and presence than a flush fitting, and the head still rotates 360 degrees and tilts 90 degrees, so it can be aimed at a feature once it's installed.
Finished All Black
The ceiling plate and the cylindrical head are both finished in matte black aluminium, with the spring mounting clips left in a contrasting bright metal. At 51mm across and 109mm from ceiling to tip, it reads as a compact, deliberate accent rather than a bulky fitting, and sits quietly against a dark ceiling or stands out as a contrast point on a pale one.
How It Works
- Cutout is 64 to 68mm, with an 80mm ceiling plate and 109mm overall projection below the ceiling.
- The head rotates a full 360 degrees and tilts up to 90 degrees, so it can be angled after fitting.
- Runs at 9.6W total, with a choice of 12, 24 or 50 degree beam angle.
- Colour temperature options are 2700K extra warm white, 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, or a dim to warm setting that runs down to 1800K as it dims.
- A driver is supplied with the fitting and wired in via cable, with a choice of mains, 1 to 10V or DALI dimming.
Where It Works Best
Rated IP44, this spotlight is suited to bathroom zone 2 as well as drier rooms such as living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms and hallways. It also works in offices, stairwells and commercial spaces where a directional accent light is useful over a mirror, a piece of art, a worktop or a display shelf. Because the head rotates and tilts after installation, it's a good option anywhere the exact aim needs deciding once the room is finished. For bathroom installations, it's worth checking which zone the fitting will sit in. Moonlight's guide to bathroom lighting zones explains how that works.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED products from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has specialised in LED technology since 2002. The brand states it was among the first to bring fully waterproof, sealed for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, which is the kind of durability this IP44 rated spotlight is built around. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
Does this spotlight sit flush with the ceiling?
No. It's semi recessed, so the cylindrical head projects below the ceiling line rather than sitting flush like a standard downlight.
Can I use this in a bathroom?
Yes. It's rated IP44, which covers bathroom zone 2, as well as drier rooms elsewhere in the home.
Can I redirect the beam after it's fitted?
Yes. The head rotates a full 360 degrees and tilts up to 90 degrees, so it can be aimed once it's already in the ceiling.
Do I need a fire hood for this fitting?
Only if the ceiling needs to be fire rated. This spotlight isn't fire rated on its own, so Collingwood recommends adding its BDLFH2 fire hood accessory where that's required.
Do I need to buy a separate driver?
No. A driver is supplied with the fitting and wired in via cable, with a choice of mains, 1 to 10V or DALI dimming.
Which colour temperature should I choose?
It's available in 2700K extra warm white, 3000K warm white, 4000K cool white, or a dim to warm option that shifts from 3000K down to 1800K as it's dimmed.
