Will the brass tarnish?
Brass will develop a natural patina over time if left untreated, which many people find attractive. If you prefer to keep it bright, a light polish now and then will restore the shine.

Is the glass quite opaque because it's speckled?
The speckles add texture and diffusion, so the light comes out softer than it would through clear glass, but you can still see the shape of the bulb filament through it. This creates a warmer, more flattering glow in the room.

Can I fit this myself?
