The IP44 rating provides protection against water splash, qualifying this fitting for bathroom zones 1 and 2 as well as any other indoor location.

Will the smoke glass be dark in an already dim room?
The smoke tint does reduce light output somewhat compared to clear glass, so it's best suited to rooms with good ambient light or where you want a cosy evening setting. Test it with sample bulbs if you're uncertain.

Does the smoke effect fade or change colour over time?
No, the smoke plating is permanent. It won't fade or develop a patina like brass can.

Is this suitable for task lighting?
Not really. It's designed for ambient or mood lighting. If you need bright light for reading or working, a fitting with clear glass would be better.
