A Silent Sensor Light for Hallways and Stairs
The Steinel RS LED D2 is a square indoor LED ceiling light with a built in high frequency motion sensor. It gives 886 lumens from 8.8W at 3000K warm white, and the sensor covers 360 degrees with a reach of 3 to 8 metres. That makes it a practical sensor switched light for a corridor, hallway, stairwell or utility room, where you want light the moment someone walks in.
Brushed Silver Surround, Opal Diffuser
A low profile opal diffuser sits inside a brushed silver coloured surround, with a slim white edge around the outside. The fitting is 300mm square and 66mm deep, so it keeps a flat, tidy line on a ceiling or wall. The fitting is made from plastic, and the LED light source is integrated.
How It Works
High frequency sensors detect movement using radio waves rather than heat, and the light switches on without a sound. The sensor has a 360 degree detection angle and a reach of 3 to 8 metres. You set the time it stays on, from 5 seconds up to 15 minutes, and the twilight level it works at, from 2 to 2000 lux, using the dials on the unit. Steinel also lists a night light function and a manual override that keeps the light on for 4 hours. The best mounting height is 2 to 4 metres, with 2.8 metres ideal. The LED has a CRI of 80 to 89. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply and is a Class II fitting, rated IP20 and IK03. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for corridors, stairwells, ancillary rooms and WC or washroom areas. It can be fixed to a ceiling or a wall with surface wiring. Because it is rated IP20, it is intended for dry indoor spaces.
