A Wide Angle Sensor Floodlight for Large Areas
The Steinel LS 150 in white is a wall mounted outdoor LED floodlight with a built in motion sensor. It switches on when someone approaches and off again after a time you set. It gives 1486 lumens from 14.7W, and the sensor covers 240 degrees with a reach of up to 12 metres. That makes it a practical outdoor security light for lighting a wide area around a house, such as a driveway, courtyard or garden wall.
White Finish with a Frosted Cover
The housing and the sensor head are white, with a frosted cover over a single LED. Steinel describes the floodlight head as robust aluminium. The head tilts on its bracket so you can aim the light, and the sensor unit below it turns separately. A white version suits light coloured render, white cladding and painted walls, and Steinel also makes this model in black.
How It Works
A passive infrared sensor picks up movement and switches the light on. You set how long it stays on, from 10 seconds to 15 minutes, and the twilight level it works at, from 2 to 1000 lux, using the dials on the unit. The sensor works best at a mounting height of 1.8 to 4 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The LED is an integrated Steinel system at 4000K neutral white with a CRI of 80 to 89. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply and is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection. It is rated IP44 and IK03. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for all round the building, including a courtyard or a driveway. It fits on a wall or corner with surface wiring. IP44 means it is protected against splashing water from any direction.
