A Black Sensor Floodlight for Large Areas
The Steinel LS 150 S in black is a wall mounted outdoor LED floodlight with a built in motion sensor. It switches on when someone approaches and off again after a time you set. It gives 1486 lumens at 4000K neutral white from 14.7W, and the sensor covers 240 degrees with a reach of 12 metres. That makes it a practical LED security light for a driveway, courtyard or the whole side of a building.
Black Finish with an Aluminium Head
This version has a black housing, with a flat opal panel over the LED and the sensor head fitted below it. Steinel describes the floodlight head as robust aluminium. A white version of the LS 150 S is also available, so the black suits darker render, brick and cladding where a pale fitting would stand out.
How It Works
A passive infrared sensor picks up movement and switches the light on. You set the time it stays on, from 10 seconds up to 15 minutes, and the twilight level it works at, from 2 to 1000 lux, using the potentiometer dials on the unit. The sensor works at a mounting height of up to 4 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The LED is an integrated Steinel system with a CRI of 80 to 89. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply. Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for outdoor use all round the building, including a courtyard or driveway. It fits on a wall or corner with surface wiring. It is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction, and IK03 for impact resistance.

Does the LS 150 S switch on by itself? Yes. Its infrared sensor detects movement within a 240 degree area and a reach of 12 metres, and switches the light on automatically.
How long does the light stay on? You choose. The on time can be set anywhere from 10 seconds to 15 minutes with the dial on the unit.
Can I stop it coming on in daylight? Yes. A twilight dial sets the brightness level the light responds to, from 2 to 1000 lux.
How high should I mount it? The sensor works at a mounting height of up to 4 metres, and Steinel gives 2 metres as the ideal height.
