A Cube Wall Light with a Built In Sensor
The Steinel L 840 LED iHF Cubo in anthracite is a compact outdoor wall light with a concealed motion sensor and Bluetooth control. The sensor covers 160 degrees with a reach of 5 metres, so it works as a discreet LED security light beside a front door, garage or terrace. It uses 9.1W and can be set up from your phone with the Steinel app.
Anthracite Finish with an Opal Diffuser
This version has an anthracite grey plastic housing in a soft edged cube shape, with an opal diffuser around the top and bottom edges. It is the darker of the two finishes Steinel offers for this model, the other being silver, and it sits quietly against brick, render or dark cladding. The light is directed up and down the wall rather than straight out.
How It Works
Steinel uses its iHF sensor, short for intelligent high frequency technology, which is hidden inside the housing and responds only to human movement. The detection zone can be adjusted on two axes. You set everything from the Steinel app over Bluetooth, including the time the light stays on, from 5 seconds up to 60 minutes, and the twilight level it works at, from 2 to 2000 lux. There is a night light function that keeps a low light on for 10 or 30 minutes or all night, a soft light start, and a manual override you can select that holds the light on for 4 hours at 3000K. The lights can also be linked wirelessly to other Steinel Bluetooth products. The best mounting height is 1.8 to 2.5 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The LED is an integrated Steinel system at 3000K warm white with a CRI of 80 to 89. It runs from a 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz mains supply and is a Class II fitting. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for the garden, the front door, a courtyard or driveway, a terrace or balcony, and all round the building. It is mounted on a wall with surface wiring, and it is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction.
