Steinel L 840 C with Bluetooth (Without Motion Detector) - Anthracite

A Cube Wall Light That Washes the Wall Above and Below

The Steinel L 840 C is a compact cube shaped outdoor wall light in anthracite, with a frosted white diffuser. It is the version without a motion sensor, so it stays on until you switch it off. You control it from the Steinel Connect app over Bluetooth. It gives 319 lumens from 9.1W at 3000K warm white, which suits soft accent lighting around a front door, terrace or courtyard.

Anthracite Finish with a Frosted Diffuser

The housing is a dark anthracite grey with a slightly textured, matt look, and the diffuser is frosted white. It is made from plastic, and Steinel's own materials are described as UV resistant. The cube measures 110mm wide and 110mm high, and projects 134mm from the wall. The store listing describes the light as casting upwards and downwards, which gives the scalloped wall effect you see in the lit photos.

How It Works

The L 840 C uses an integrated Steinel LED system at 3000K warm white with a CRI of 80 to 89. It connects to the Steinel Connect app for iOS or Android by Bluetooth. Steinel describes two brightness levels: a main light, and a gentle basic light that only works when the fitting is paired with a separate Steinel Bluetooth sensor luminaire, sold separately. The LED is built in and cannot be replaced. It runs from a 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz mains supply and is a Class II fitting, rated IP44 and IK03. Mounting accessories are included. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for outdoor use all round the building: beside a front door, on a courtyard or driveway wall, or on a terrace or balcony wall. It mounts on a wall with surface wiring. Because it has no sensor, it is a good fit where you want a steady, decorative glow rather than a security light that switches on and off.
