A Cube Wall Light with a Hidden Motion Sensor
The Steinel L 830 LED iHF Cubo in anthracite is a compact outdoor sensor light with a cube shaped opal diffuser. A concealed iHF sensor covers 160 degrees with a reach of 5 metres, so it works as an LED security light that comes on as you approach. It gives 493 lumens from 9.1W at 3000K warm white, and you can adjust its settings over Bluetooth with the Steinel app.
Anthracite Bracket, Opal Diffuser
The back plate and side panel are anthracite, a dark grey that sits quietly against render, brick or timber cladding. The cube itself is opal plastic, which spreads the light softly instead of showing a bright point. Steinel also lists this model in silver, so you can match it to other fittings on the building.
How It Works
The iHF sensor uses high frequency technology and is hidden inside the housing. Steinel says it responds only to human movement. You can set the time the light stays on from 5 seconds to 60 minutes, and the twilight level it works at from 2 to 2000 lux. The detection zone can be adjusted on two axes. There is a soft light start, a night light function that can run for 10 minutes, 30 minutes or all night, and a manual override that holds the light on for 4 hours. All of these are set from the app. The sensor works at a mounting height of 1.8 to 2.5 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The LED is an integrated Steinel system with a CRI of 80 to 89. It runs from a 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz mains supply and is a Class II fitting. It can link to other Steinel Bluetooth lights, so one sensor can switch several lights together. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for the front door, a driveway, a courtyard, a terrace or balcony, the garden and all round the building. It is surface wired onto a wall and is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction. It also has an IK03 impact rating.
