A Cylinder Wall Light for Entrances and Terraces
The Steinel L 605 M is an outdoor LED wall light with a tall opal glass cylinder on an aluminium base. This version has no motion sensor, so it works like a normal wall light and is switched from your wall switch or an outdoor lighting circuit. It gives 729 lumens from 11.3W at 3000K warm white, a soft, even light for marking a front door, a gate or a patio wall.
Anthracite Aluminium with Opal Glass
The base is solid aluminium in a dark anthracite finish, with a slightly textured surface. Steinel pairs it with a fine opal glass cylinder that spreads the light evenly instead of showing a hard point of light. Steinel also describes a soft light start, so the light comes up gently rather than switching on abruptly. If you want the same look with motion detection, Steinel makes the L 605 with a sensor as a separate model.
How It Works
The LED is integrated and made by Steinel, with a colour rendering index (CRI) of 80 to 89. It runs from a 220 to 240V mains supply at 50 to 60Hz and is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection. It is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction, and IK03 for impact resistance. It is surface wired and mounts on a wall. Where It Works Best
Steinel suggests it for outdoor use all round the building, including by the front door and on a terrace or balcony wall. It suits a pair either side of a door or a row along a long wall, where the slim cylinder shape adds a clean, modern look.
