Steinel L 560 S Classic Globe Wall light with 140 degree PIR - White

A Classic Globe Wall Light with a Built In Sensor

The Steinel L 560 S in white is an outdoor wall light with a clear globe and a passive infrared motion sensor built into its base. It switches on when someone approaches and off again after a time you set. The sensor covers 140 degrees with a reach of up to 12 metres, which makes it a traditional looking security light for a front door, porch or driveway wall. It takes a standard E27 bulb of up to 60W, so you choose the light source.

White Finish with a Clear Globe

The body and wall plate are white plastic, and the round shade is transparent glass with a lightly speckled finish. Steinel's own images show a bulb lit inside the globe, with the sensor housed in a small hooded head at the foot of the stem. The sensor head tilts through 65 degrees and turns through 130 degrees, so the detection zone can be pointed at the path or doorway you want covered. The white finish suits light render, pale brick and white painted woodwork. The same model is also made in black.

How It Works

A passive infrared sensor detects movement across 140 degrees, with a reach of up to 12 metres when someone crosses the sensor's view and up to 5 metres when walking straight towards it. You set the time the light stays on, from 8 seconds to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux, using the two dials on the unit. The sensor works at a mounting height of 1.8 to 3 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The light runs from a 230 to 240V, 50Hz mains supply and is a Class II fitting. The bulb is not included and the lampholder is E27, up to 60W. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for the front door, all round the building, a terrace or balcony, and a courtyard or driveway. It is surface wired and wall mounted, and rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction. It also has an IK03 impact rating.
