A Slim Sensor Wall Light for Entrances
The Steinel L 12 S in silver is an outdoor wall light with a built in motion sensor. It lights up when someone approaches and switches off again after a time you choose. A 180 degree sensor reaches up to 10 metres, which makes it a practical outdoor security light for a front door, building front or side passage. It takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W, so you choose the brightness and colour.
Silver Aluminium with Five Opal Panels
The curved trim panel is aluminium in a silver finish, with five horizontal opal windows that spread the light softly across the wall. The sensor sits in a white housing at the base of the fitting. It tilts through 90 degrees, so you can aim the detection zone exactly where you need it.
How It Works
A passive infrared sensor picks up movement and switches the light on. Two dials set the time it stays on, from 8 seconds up to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it works at, from 2 to 2000 lux. The sensor works best at a mounting height of 1.8 to 3 metres, with 2 metres ideal. It uses an E27 bulb, which is not included, and runs from a 230 to 240V mains supply. It is a Class II fitting. Steinel suggests it for front doors, courtyards, driveways, terraces and balconies, and all round the building. It fixes to a wall with surface wiring, and it is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction.

Does the L 12 S switch on by itself? Yes. Its infrared sensor detects movement within a 180 degree area and a reach of up to 10 metres, and switches the light on automatically.
How long does the light stay on? You choose. The on time can be set anywhere from 8 seconds to 35 minutes with a dial on the unit.
