Steinel L 115 S Classic Globe Wall light with 240 degree PIR - White

A Classic Globe Wall Light That Switches Itself On

The Steinel L 115 S is an outdoor sensor wall light with a clear globe and a built in motion sensor. It lights up when someone walks into its 240 degree detection area, up to 12 metres away, and switches off again after a time you choose. It takes a standard E27 lamp of up to 60W, so you pick the bulb. A good fit for a front door, porch or entrance that needs a traditional outdoor security light.

White Finish with a Clear Globe

This version has a white housing and a white sensor head set below the globe, with the Steinel name on the sensor body. The globe is clear rather than frosted, so the lamp inside is visible and the light spreads out in all directions, softly washing the wall behind it. The same model is also made in other finishes, but this one suits white render, painted walls and white window and door frames.

How It Works

A passive infrared sensor detects movement across 240 degrees with a reach of up to 12 metres. Two dials set how long the light stays on, from 5 seconds to 15 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 1000 lux, so it stays off in daylight. The sensor suits a mounting height of 1.8 to 6 metres, with 2 metres ideal. There is also a basic light function you can select, which Steinel's product image shows as 4 hours. It runs from a 230 to 240V mains supply and is a Class II fitting with surface wiring. Choose a bulb to suit your preferred brightness and colour, up to 60W, as no lamp is listed as supplied. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for outdoor use all round the building: front doors, terraces and balconies, courtyards and driveways. It is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction, and IK03 for impact protection. It is mounted on a wall with surface wiring.
