Steinel L 1 Wall Light with house number and PIR - Impact Resistant - Black

A Wall Light That Doubles as Your House Number

The Steinel L 1 is an outdoor wall light with a built in motion sensor and a sheet of house numbers included. It is a simple, practical outdoor sensor wall light for a front door or building front: it switches on when someone approaches, shows your number on the opal cover, and switches off again after a time you choose. The sensor covers 180 degrees with a reach of up to 10 metres, and the housing is impact resistant to IK07.

Black Housing with an Opal Cover

This version has a black housing and a white opal plastic cover, with the sensor head set into the base. The cover is curved and plain, so the house number stands out clearly once it is applied. The numbers come on a sheet, so you can make up the number you need. It takes a standard E27 bulb, which is not included, so you can choose the brightness and colour of light yourself.

How It Works

A passive infrared sensor picks up movement and switches the light on. Two potentiometer dials set how long it stays on, from 8 seconds to 35 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to, from 2 to 2000 lux. The sensor works at a mounting height of 1.8 to 3 metres, with 2 metres ideal. The lamp holder takes an E27 bulb up to 60W. It runs from a 230 to 240V, 50Hz mains supply, is a Class II fitting and is rated IP44, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where It Works Best

Steinel suggests it for the front door, all round the building, and a courtyard or driveway. It fits on a wall with surface wiring, which makes it a good choice for a porch, a garage wall or the front of a house where you want a light that also shows the number.
