Steinel IS 360-3 White - Motion Detector

A 360 Degree Motion Sensor for Indoors and Outdoors

The Steinel IS 360-3 in white is a surface mounted infrared motion detector that switches a connected light on when it senses movement. Three pyro sensors give it a 360 degree angle of coverage, with a reach of up to 12 metres, so it suits a carport, a driveway, a building facade or the underside of a soffit. It is a sensor, not a light, so you wire it to the lighting you want it to control.

White Finish with a Faceted Lens

The housing is white, with a domed lens covered in small hexagonal facets that focus infrared onto the sensors. The Steinel name sits on the rim. The white finish blends into a pale ceiling or soffit, and shrouds supplied with the sensor let you block off parts of the detection zone, for example to keep a neighbouring path or road from triggering it.

How It Works

Passive infrared sensors pick up the heat movement of people and vehicles and switch the connected light on. You set the time it stays on from 5 seconds up to 15 minutes, and the twilight level it responds to from 2 to 1000 lux, using the potentiometer dials. Steinel gives a mounting height of 2.5 to 6 metres, with 2.8 metres ideal. It is a switching sensor with a maximum load of 2000W, runs from a 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz mains supply, is a Class II product and is rated IP54, so it is protected against splashing water from any direction. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this product.

Where It Works Best

Steinel describes it as a multi talent for indoors and outdoors. It works well under soffits, in carports, on large building facades and along driveways, and anywhere you want one sensor to watch all the way round it.
