Steinel IR 180 UP Easy - Universal Wall Switch

A Motion Sensor That Replaces Your Wall Switch

The Steinel IR 180 UP Easy is a flush mounted motion sensor switch for indoor use. It takes the place of an ordinary wall switch and turns a separate light on when someone walks into the room, then off again after a time you choose. It works on both 2 wire and 3 wire circuits and can switch all types of lamp up to 200W, which makes it an easy upgrade for a hallway, stairwell or utility room. Please note this is a sensor switch, not a light. It switches a separate light that you already have.

A Plain White Frame That Blends In

This version is white, with a square frame and a rounded, frosted sensor dome in the centre. A small button sits on the dome, so you can still switch the light by hand whenever you want. The body is made from plastic and measures 57mm deep, with a 81 x 81mm face, so it sits neatly where a standard switch would go.

How It Works

A passive infrared sensor covers 180 degrees with a reach of 8 metres. You set how long the light stays on, from 5 seconds to 30 minutes, and the brightness level it works at, from 2 to 1000 lux, using the potentiometers on the unit. The best mounting height is between 1.1 and 2.2 metres, with 1.1 metres ideal. It runs from a 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz mains supply and is rated IP20. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this product.

Where It Works Best

Steinel lists it for corridors and aisles, stairwells, ancillary rooms, kitchenettes and washrooms. It is for indoor use only, on a wall with concealed wiring, so it suits any room where you would like the light to come on without reaching for a switch.
