An Oval Burst, Softened
The Molecule Spark Oval 17 takes the same elongated, seventeen arm silhouette as the transparent version, stretching the Spark family's radiating brass structure into an oval rather than a sphere. In frosted glass, the effect changes considerably: instead of a field of individual bright points, the whole oval reads as one long, even wash of warm light, better suited to a room where ambience matters more than sculptural detail.

Frosted glass diffuses the LED inside each of the seventeen hemispheres into a soft, glare free glow, smoothing out the fitting's visual texture along its full length. The brass arms remain visible in outline, but the light itself becomes the dominant impression rather than the engineering behind it, making this the version to choose for a room where guests will be sitting directly underneath.
Choose Your Finish
The frame is available in Black Gunmetal or Lacquered Burnished Brass. Black Gunmetal gives a cooler, more graphic contrast against the frosted glow, while Lacquered Burnished Brass warms the whole piece, letting the brass arms glow softly alongside the diffused light.
How It Works
The chandelier takes 17 x E27, 5W LED bulbs, included, at 2700K warm white and around 7650 to 8500 lumens combined. It is dimmable, but only with an electronic dimmer switch, and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms. The fitting measures approximately 939mm long by 679mm wide, with a drop of around 796mm, and weighs approximately 12.8kg. Each glass hemisphere is around 120mm in diameter.
Where It Works Best
The frosted finish suits a long dining table where diners sit close beneath the fitting and want even, glare free light rather than exposed filaments overhead. It also works well in a living or entertaining space with a long sightline, where a softer glow reads as more welcoming than the crisper transparent version.
Made by Schwung
Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, each hemisphere is mouth blown and then sandblasted by hand to achieve the frosted finish, an additional process applied individually across all seventeen globes before they are fitted to the brass frame.
