One Hemisphere, A Great Deal of Character

The Molecule Single Pendant takes a single glass hemisphere and hangs it from a slender brass drop, distilling the wider Molecule family's mid-century silhouette down to its smallest, most versatile unit. On its own, it works as a considered accent light; in pairs or small groups it becomes something closer to the multi-arm chandeliers in miniature, repeated rather than radiating from one point.

In Frosted Glass

Frosted glass softens the single LED inside the hemisphere into a warm, diffused pool of light rather than a direct point source, making this version particularly suited to close-range use, beside a bed, above a small table, or at eye level in a hallway, where a bare filament would otherwise be too sharp to sit comfortably under.

Choose Your Finish

The frame is available in Black Gunmetal or Lacquered Burnished Brass. Black Gunmetal gives a quieter, more graphic drop, while Lacquered Burnished Brass lets the brass catch light as the pendant hangs, adding a small point of warmth even before the LED is switched on.

How It Works

The pendant takes 1 x E27 LED bulb, included, at 3 to 4W and a warm white colour temperature of 2000K to 2800K that shifts warmer as it is dimmed. It is dimmable, but only with an electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmer, and is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms. The drop is adjustable from around 731mm to 3050mm, and the fitting weighs approximately 1.5kg, with a glass hemisphere 120mm in diameter and a 140mm ceiling canopy.

Where It Works Best

Its small scale and long adjustable drop make the Single Pendant a natural choice either side of a bed in place of table lamps, as a reading light dropped low over an armchair, or repeated at staggered heights over a run of worktop or a small table. It is the entry point into the Molecule family for a room too small for one of the multi-arm chandeliers.

Made by Schwung

Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen. According to Schwung, the same mouth-blown glass and solid brass construction used across the larger Molecule chandeliers goes into this single hemisphere, so the smallest piece in the range is made to the same standard as the largest.

Can I hang two of these as bedside pendants?
Yes, this is one of the most common ways to use the Single Pendant, hung either side of a bed in place of table lamps, with the drop adjusted individually on each side.

Can it be dimmed?
Yes, but only with an electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmer, not a standard dimmer switch.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No, it is rated IP20 and intended for dry indoor rooms only.
