The Bulb, the Glass and Nothing Else
The Glass Globe Single Pendant in transparent glass is one of the plainest ideas Schwung makes and one of the most effective: a hand blown glass sphere on a slim brass drop, with nothing between you and the bulb inside. There's no diffuser or shade to soften it, so the fitting relies entirely on the quality of the glass and the warmth of the small bulb it holds. It's a genuinely simple silhouette, and that simplicity is the whole point.
Five Sizes, Three Finishes
The transparent globe comes in five diameters, 150mm, 200mm, 250mm, 300mm and 350mm, each available in Black Gunmetal, Lacquered Burnished Brass or Polished Nickel, giving the fifteen listed variants as that size and finish combination. The smaller 150mm and 200mm globes sit close and neat, good for a single pendant over a small table or a run of matching drops spaced along a kitchen island. The 300mm and 350mm globes carry more visual weight and work well as one confident drop over a dining table, where the visible filament glow becomes the room's main point of interest rather than one light among several. Gunmetal gives the fitting a darker, more graphic edge, lacquered burnished brass reads warmer and more traditional, and polished nickel is the coolest and most reflective of the three.
How It Works
Each pendant is supplied with one 1.6W LED bulb (G4 fitting) at 2700K, delivering around 180 to 200 lumens, a genuinely small, low output bulb chosen because the glass is transparent and the filament itself does the work of lighting the room. It's dimmable, but only with electronic ELV or trailing edge dimmers, not standard leading edge dimmers. It's IP20 rated, so it's built for dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms. Unlike the larger opal version, this fitting is not supplied with extension rods, so the drop is fixed to the length it ships with, though an electrician can still shorten the cable itself at installation if a lower drop is needed. Weight is modest throughout the range, from around 1.1kg at 150mm up to about 2.4kg at 350mm. It's CE and UL certified with a 2 year warranty.
Where It Works Best
Because the light is direct rather than diffused, this pendant works best somewhere you want a warm, low glow rather than general room lighting, a kitchen island, a breakfast bar, or grouped in twos or threes above a dining table where each globe reads as its own small point of light. A single 300mm or 350mm globe also works alone as a considered pendant in a hallway or over a console table. Its dry only rating keeps it out of bathrooms, and its modest light output means it usually wants pairing with other lighting in a room used for anything beyond dining or passing through.
Made by Schwung
Schwung was founded in 2014 in Namyslow, Poland, by Belgian designer Dominique Sente and Dutch designer Rudi Nijssen, with every fitting still made to order at the Namyslow workshop. This pendant belongs to Schwung's Classic concept, which the brand describes as a family of lamps built around "soap bubble" glass and exposed bulbs. According to Schwung, the transparent globes are hand blown from borosilicate glass using techniques the brand traces to a Central European glassmaking tradition going back over a century, which is why no two globes are perfectly identical.

Questions People Ask
What's the difference between this and the opal Glass Globe pendant?
This transparent version shows the bulb directly, giving a brighter, more filament led glow, while the opal version fully diffuses the light into one soft, even sphere. The opal glass also runs to larger sizes, up to 600mm, against this transparent globe's maximum of 350mm.
Can I adjust the height this pendant hangs at?
Not with extension rods, this version doesn't include them, though an electrician can trim the cable itself at installation for a slightly lower drop if needed.
Is this pendant suitable for a bathroom?
No, it's rated IP20, which means it's intended for dry indoor rooms only, not bathrooms or other damp locations.
