Most of the Whistling range leans towards brass, so the polished chrome version stands out as the cooler option, a bright silver ring holding a clear glass globe with three bulbs left open to view. It suits a bathroom fitted out in chrome taps and towel rails rather than brass ones, and the mirror shine picks up light from tiles and mirrors around it.

Matching Your Metal

This listing is the polished chrome finish, a genuine mirror shine in cool silver rather than gold. If your bathroom runs on brass fittings instead, the same design is also made in polished brass, glossy and gold, and in brushed brass, which has a softer, satin gold surface. Whichever finish you go for, the glass globe and the bulb arrangement inside stay the same, so it is really the taps, handles and towel rail already in the room that should decide it.

How It Works

Inside the clear glass globe are three E27 bulb holders, left visible rather than screened off, so the bulbs you choose are on show as much as the fitting itself. Bulbs are not supplied. The fitting is Class I, meaning it needs an earth connection, so it must be wired in by a qualified electrician rather than swapped over as a DIY job. It will dim if fitted with dimmable E27 bulbs on a compatible dimmer switch, but has no dimming function with ordinary bulbs.

Where It Works Best

As a flush fitting with no drop from the ceiling, it works well in a bathroom where ceiling height is already limited, such as over a bath or inside a shower enclosure. It shares its 33cm diameter and 23.8cm height with the brushed brass and polished brass versions, so the only real difference across the range is the metal finish and a small difference in weight, this chrome version coming in at 4kg against 3.8kg for the brass finishes.
