Three Steady Points of Light Above the Mirror

A gently bowed bar in polished chrome carries three cylindrical opal glass shades across the width of a basin or mirror. It is built to throw even, shadow free light across a face rather than one bright pool from a single bulb, which is exactly what shaving and make up need.

The Chrome Finish

This fitting comes in polished chrome only, a bright, mirror like reflective surface rather than a brushed or satin look. Every joint, from the chunky centre bracket to the slim arms holding each shade, is finished to the same high shine, and the glass cylinders are an opal white that glows warm rather than stark when lit. If you already have chrome taps or a chrome mirror cabinet in the room, this sits happily alongside them.

How It Works

Three lamps run across the bar, each taking a G9 LED rated at 3W. Bulbs are not supplied. Wiring is Class I, so the fitting must be properly earthed. Dimming is possible if you fit dimmable G9 LEDs and pair the light with a compatible dimmer switch, but it will not dim with standard non dimmable lamps.

Where It Works Best

With three lights spread across 53.3cm, this is the widest of the Taylor bathroom wall lights and is designed to run horizontally above a mirror or a run of basins, rather than to flank one on either side. If your mirror is narrower, or you would rather have two lights either side of it, the Taylor range also includes single arm sconces in a tall and a short format better suited to pairing. Quoizel started out in Manhattan in 1930, founded by Michael Chaikin as a small lamp company. Its first products were not electric at all, they were hurricane lamps that burned oil, the sort of thing you would have carried from room to room rather than switched on at a wall. The company has been making light fittings for close to a century since, and this bathroom light is a long way from that first oil lamp, but it is built by the same family run business that started there.

Will this fit above a standard bathroom mirror? At 53.3cm wide it suits a mirror or basin run of a similar width or narrower. For a single mirror with lights either side, look at the Taylor single wall lights instead.
