A Single Bright Point by the Basin

One fluted opal glass shade sits at the end of a curved chrome arm, tilted down so the light falls where you need it rather than into your eyes. It is a small, neat fitting, easy to use in pairs either side of a mirror or fitted alone where space is tight.

Choosing Your Finish

Here it is finished in Polished Chrome, bright and highly reflective against the frosted glass, and you can see that mirror shine clearly on the curved arm and backplate in the photographs. The same design comes in Brushed Brass, a warmer and much softer looking gold finish. Because the glass shade is the same across both, most people choose based on the taps and towel rail already fitted in the room.

How It Works

It takes a single G9 lamp, a 3.5W LED type, and no bulb is included, so you will need to buy one to go with it. It will only dim if you fit a dimmable G9 lamp and a compatible dimmer switch, a standard G9 will not dim on its own. The fitting is wired to Class I, so it needs a genuine earth connection and should be installed by a qualified electrician rather than swapped in as a DIY job. It carries an IP44 rating, giving it enough protection to sit within the bathroom lighting zones around a basin or bath.

Where It Works Best

As a single shade, this is the size for a narrower wall, a pair either side of a mirror, or a spot where a full four light bar would overwhelm the space. Quoizel builds the Swell as a four light bar too, for a double basin or a wide vanity mirror, so if you are lighting a bigger run of wall that version will give more even coverage than two single sconces spaced out.

Quoizel's Glasswork Heritage

Quoizel built much of its early reputation on Tiffany style stained glass work, a specialism that grew from table lamps into chandeliers, pendants and wall fittings across the range. The company itself dates back to 1930, founded in Manhattan by Michael Chaikin, and remains privately owned today under the Phillips family, who have run it since Ira Phillips bought the business outright in 1986. This wall light is a simpler, more everyday design than the glasswork the brand is best known for, but it carries the same attention to a well finished glass shade.

Can I fit two of these either side of a mirror? Yes, at 12.7cm across the wall plate, a pair either side of a mirror or cabinet works well and gives more flexible spacing than the fixed four light bar.

What bulb does it take? One G9 lamp, 3.5W or lower, not included in the box.

Does it dim? Only if you fit a dimmable G9 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. A standard G9 will not dim.
