One Steady Light Beside the Mirror
A single fluted glass shade hangs from a curved brass arm, angled down so the light lands on the basin rather than shining straight into your eyes. It is a compact fitting, built for a narrower wall or for hanging in a pair either side of a cabinet.
Choosing Your Finish
Shown here in Brushed Brass, a warm honeyed gold with a soft brushed texture you can see clearly across the curved arm and the round wall plate in the photos, rather than a hard mirror shine. The same fitting comes in Polished Chrome for a cooler, more reflective look. Since the glass shade is identical either way, the choice usually comes down to whichever metal already runs through your taps and towel rail.
How It Works
It takes a single G9 lamp, a 3.5W LED type, and no bulb is supplied with the fitting, so you will need to buy one separately. It only dims if you choose a dimmable G9 lamp and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch, a non dimmable lamp will not dim regardless of the switch. Wired to Class I, it needs a genuine earth connection, so fitting is a job for a qualified electrician rather than a DIY swap. Its IP44 rating gives it enough splash protection to sit within the bathroom lighting zones around a basin or bath.
Where It Works Best
Being a single shade rather than a bar of four, this is the size to use either side of a mirrored cabinet, or on its own beside a narrower basin where the four light version would be too wide for the wall. Quoizel also builds the Swell as a four light bar for double basins or a run of mirror, so if you are lighting a wider vanity, that version will spread the light more evenly than two single sconces spaced apart.
Quoizel's Manhattan Beginnings
Quoizel started life in 1930 as a small lamp company in Manhattan, founded by Michael Chaikin. Its first products were not electric at all, they were hurricane lamps that burned oil, and one design from those early years, the Abigail Adams lamp, stayed in the catalogue for decades. As homes electrified, the company moved with them, shifting from portable oil lamps into hardwired chandeliers, pendants, sconces and ceiling lights, of which this bathroom wall light is a direct descendant.

Questions People Ask
How does this compare to the four light version? It is the same design reduced to a single arm and shade, so it suits a narrower wall or a pair either side of a cabinet where the 81.3cm wide four light bar would not fit.
What bulb does it need? One G9 lamp, 3.5W or lower, not included. Choose a dimmable G9 if you plan to fit it on a dimmer.
Is it suitable for a bathroom? Yes, it carries an IP44 rating, which is enough protection for use within the recognised bathroom lighting zones around a basin or bath.
