Quintiesse Torche 2 Light Wall Light - Brushed Nickel

The Torche wall light takes a familiar two light sconce shape and gives it a distinctive fluted surface, a series of fine vertical ribs running down the steel body that catch and soften the light around it. Finished in brushed nickel, it has a cool, quiet shine that sits comfortably in contemporary bathrooms and equally at home in a hallway or bedroom with a similar pared back palette.

Brushed nickel finish

The steel body is finished in brushed nickel, a matte, low glare surface that resists fingerprints and showing water marks better than a polished metal would, which is one reason it works so well near a mirror or basin. The cool grey undertone pairs naturally with chrome taps, grey or white tiling, and monochrome or minimalist schemes, though it sits just as easily against warmer wood tones if you want a bit of contrast.

How it works

Each fitting takes 2 x E27 bulbs of up to 60W, which are not supplied so you can choose the warmth and brightness that suits the room. It will dim, but only if you fit dimmable bulbs, standard bulbs will not dim even on a dimmer circuit. This is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earthed supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. It carries an IP44 rating, meaning it is protected against splashing water from any direction, which is what allows it to be used in a bathroom setting.

Where it works best

At 42cm high, 12.7cm wide and projecting 10.2cm from the wall, Torche is slim enough to flank a mirror or sit above a basin without crowding the space, while still giving enough spread of light from its two lamps to be genuinely useful rather than purely decorative. Its bathroom appropriate rating also makes it a good fit for ensuites and cloakrooms, and the same fitting works nicely as a corridor or landing light where a compact, wall hugging profile matters.
