The Deco wall light brings a touch of Art Deco glamour to a bathroom scheme, pairing a lacquered gold frame with a rounded opal glass globe shade. It's a compact, single arm wall light designed to sit comfortably beside a mirror or along a run of wall, and the glass globe softens the light into a warm, even glow rather than a single hard source.
A lacquered gold finish
The frame is steel finished in a lacquered gold, a warm, reflective tone that catches the light without being brash. It sits well against marble, dark tile or brushed brass fittings, and works equally well as a pair either side of a bathroom mirror or as a single fitting in a smaller room. The opal glass globe diffuses the bulb's light into a soft wash rather than a pinpoint glare.
How it works
The Deco takes a single 25W E14 bulb (not supplied), and dims smoothly if you fit a dimmable bulb; without one it simply runs at full brightness. It's a Class I fitting, so it needs to be wired to an earthed electrical supply and should be installed by a qualified electrician. Being rated IP44, it can be safely installed in a bathroom's more sheltered zones, specifically zones 2 and 3, away from the immediate splash zone around a bath or shower. It's fixed to the wall rather than adjustable, so there's no arm or drop to set once it's mounted.
Where it works best
At just over 30cm tall and around 15cm wide, with a 17.1cm projection from the wall, the Deco is sized for bathroom walls rather than open hallways, comfortably flanking a mirror or lighting a vanity area without crowding the space. Its IP44 rating means it's built specifically with bathrooms in mind, making it a natural fit for zones 2 and 3 (the areas outside the immediate splash zone of a bath or shower); do check the zone requirements for your own bathroom layout before installing. It also suits ensuites, cloakrooms and dressing areas where a warm Art Deco touch is welcome.
Quintiesse craftsmanship
Quintiesse describes many of its finishes, lacquered gold included, as drawing on artisan finishing techniques intended to give a bit more depth and richness than a flat, uniform coat.
