The Orluna N-300 is a fixed output, non dimmable 300mA driver for Orluna fittings that do not call for dimmer control.
Matching This Driver To Your Fitting
Confirm that the Orluna fitting you are installing is rated for a 300mA constant current supply, since current matching between driver and fitting is essential regardless of whether dimming is involved. As this driver is non dimmable, it should be wired to a standard on and off switch rather than a dimmer, since it has no dimming circuitry to respond to one. Where dimmer control is wanted at 300mA, look to the mains dimmable M-300 or M-300-2 instead.
How It Works
The N-300 regulates a mains input to a fixed 300mA constant current output, rated at up to 12W, with no dimming function built in. Light output stays constant whenever the circuit is live, switched only by a standard switch.
Where It Works Best
Within the 300mA family, the N-300 sits at 12W, between the mains dimmable M-300-2 at 9W and M-300 at 14W, but unlike either of those it carries no dimming function at all. It suits spaces where fixed, unswitched light levels are the goal and dimming would add unnecessary complexity. Fit it somewhere accessible in case it ever needs attention.
Made By Orluna
Beyond its original Quad 50 downlight, Orluna has built out a family of architectural ranges including One, Cero, Curve, Origin, Fade and Vio, each developed under the same UK design and manufacturing led approach. Control gear such as the N-300 is developed to that same standard, built to work reliably behind the fittings it powers rather than as an afterthought.
Good To Know
- Constant current output: 300mA
- Maximum power: 12W
- Non dimmable, fixed light output
- Input: Mains voltage
- Suitable for use with Orluna fittings rated to the same current
- Covered under Orluna's 20 year spares and repair programme as a replaceable component
Questions People Ask
Can the N-300 be dimmed? No, it is a fixed output, non dimmable driver; the M-300 and M-300-2 are the mains dimmable options at the same 300mA current.
Does the fitting's current still need to match? Yes, the connected Orluna fitting still needs to be rated for 300mA even though this driver is non dimmable.
Can it be replaced with a dimmable version later? As a replaceable component, it can be swapped for the M-300 or M-300-2 if dimming is later required.
