Alta: Orluna's Benchmark Uplight
A quietly powerful ground level fitting built to wash walls, stairs and niches with light that looks natural rather than technical. Alta is the standard bearer of Orluna's uplight family, sized and specified for everyday architectural use across homes, hotels and public spaces.
Choosing Your Configuration
Alta is available in two beam angles, a tighter 33 degree spread for a more defined column of light and a broader 40 degree option for a softer, wider wash across a wall or stair riser. Colour temperature is offered in 2700K for a traditional warm glow or 3000K for a slightly crisper warm white that suits contemporary interiors. For location, choose IP54 where the fitting sits somewhere dry and sheltered indoors, or IP67 where it will face rain, standing water or full outdoor exposure. The bezel can be specified in stainless steel, a natural choice for fittings exposed to the weather, or powder coated white (RAL 9010) to sit quietly against a painted wall or ceiling. Baffle finish is black across the range, chosen to control glare rather than draw attention to the fitting itself.
How It Works
Every IP67 specification of Alta is built around a breather gland, which equalises pressure inside the housing and stops condensation forming as temperatures change, plus triple o-ring construction sealing the lens, body and cable entry against dust and moisture. IP67 means the fitting is fully protected against dust ingress and can withstand temporary immersion, while IP54 offers protection against dust and splashing water for sheltered indoor locations. Inside, the Origin Natural LED engine manages heat through the fitting's aluminium body, which draws warmth away from the LED chip to protect colour consistency and long term output.
Where It Works Best
As the standard size in the Alta family, this uplight suits general purpose grazing and highlighting work, stone or render facades, stairwells, garden walls and internal niches where a confident, well controlled beam is needed rather than a subtle sliver of light. Where a tighter or more discreet fitting is called for, the Mini, Zero or Micro versions in the same family step down in size and beam spread; Alta itself is the workhorse specification most commonly chosen where output and flexibility matter more than a minimal footprint.
Made By Orluna
Orluna was founded in 1973 by a group of aeronautical engineers who first applied LED technology to civil and military projects, at a time when efficiency, longevity and mechanical reliability mattered far more than aesthetics. That engineering discipline still shows in fittings like Alta, where the same attention to sealing, heat management and long term reliability that once served aircraft and defence applications now goes into architectural lighting for homes and public spaces.

Questions People Ask
Can Alta be used outdoors?
Yes, when specified with the IP67 rating Alta is built for full outdoor exposure, including rain and temporary submersion, thanks to its breather gland and triple o-ring sealing.
What is the difference between the 33 degree and 40 degree beam?
The 33 degree beam produces a tighter, more defined column of light, while the 40 degree beam spreads wider for a softer wash across a larger surface.
Is Alta repairable rather than disposable?
Yes, Alta is covered by Orluna's 20 year spares, repair and reuse programme, so individual components can be renewed rather than replacing the whole fitting.
