Nuura Liila 1 Light Medium IP44 Wall/Flush Light - Dark Bronze & Opal Glass

Small, Sculptural and Just Off the Wall

Liila 1 Medium is a small, sculptural wall or ceiling light built around a single hand blown glass sphere. A slim, circular backplate in dark bronze metal holds the glass just off the wall or ceiling, so the sphere reads almost as if it's floating.

Dark bronze finish and opal glass

This version combines a dark bronze metal backplate with an opal white glass sphere. The opal glass diffuses the light evenly through the whole surface of the globe, giving a soft, gentle glow rather than a sharp point of light, while the dark bronze finish adds a deeper, warmer edge than the lighter metal options, well suited to richer, more layered interiors.

How it works

Liila 1 Medium takes a single G9 lamp (7W) and is designed to be used interchangeably as a wall light or a flush ceiling light. It's a hardwired fixture, so it needs to be connected by a qualified electrician rather than plugged in. The glass sphere measures roughly 14cm across, with the fitting as a whole around 16.5cm wide and 17cm deep from the wall or ceiling.

Where it works best

Because of its small footprint, Liila 1 Medium suits spaces where a pendant would feel too heavy, hallways, small landings, either side of a bathroom mirror, or low ceilinged rooms. With an IP44 rating, it's also suitable for installation in a bathroom, provided it's positioned in a zone that permits IP44 fittings. For guidance on which parts of a bathroom that covers, see our guide, Bathroom Lighting Zones and IP Ratings Explained: The Simple UK Guide.

About Nuura

Liila is one of Nuura's more compact collections, built around the idea of a single glass form rather than a cluster or chandelier. Nuura, the Danish brand behind it, was founded in Copenhagen in 2017.

Good to know

• Made to order by Nuura, so please allow time for production and delivery.
• As with all Nuura fittings, this piece is non-returnable once ordered unless it arrives faulty.
• IP44 rated: protected against water splashes from any direction, suitable for use in appropriate bathroom lighting zones. Check our bathroom lighting zones guide before choosing its exact position.
• Hardwired fitting, must be installed by a registered electrician.
• Takes one G9 lamp (7W).
• The glass is mouth blown and the metal finish is hand finished, so colour and finish can vary slightly from piece to piece, and the opal glass looks different lit and unlit. Screens also show colour differently. If you are in any doubt about exact size or colour, please call our customer service team.
• Clean with a soft, dry cloth only, avoid household cleaning products on the glass or metal.

Questions People Ask

Can I install the Nuura Liila 1 Medium myself? It is a hardwired fitting, so it connects to the mains and cannot be plugged in. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Can it be fitted on a wall and on a ceiling? Yes. Liila 1 Medium is designed to be used interchangeably as a wall light or a flush ceiling light.

What light source does it use, and can it be dimmed? It takes one G9 LED lamp, up to 7W, which is not supplied. It can be dimmed if you fit a dimmable LED lamp that suits your dimmer circuit.

Can I use it in a bathroom? It is IP44 rated, so it is protected against splashes from any direction and can be used in bathroom zones that permit IP44 fittings. Please check the zone before choosing its position.

Will the finish look exactly like the photos? Not always. The glass is mouth blown and the metal is hand finished, so each piece can differ slightly, and screens render colour differently. Opal glass also looks different lit and unlit. Please call customer service if you are unsure about colour.

Can I return it? No. Nuura fittings are made to order, so they are non-returnable once ordered, unless an item arrives faulty.
