Nuura Liila 1 Light Large IP44 Wall/Flush Light - Black & Optic Clear Glass

Liila 1 Large is the biggest lamp in Nuura's Liila collection, built around a single large, hand blown glass sphere. A slim, circular backplate in black metal holds the glass slightly off the wall or ceiling, so the globe reads almost as if it's floating rather than fixed in place.

Black finish and optic clear glass

This version combines a black metal backplate with an optic clear glass sphere, its surface given a fine, ribbed texture rather than left smooth. That texture breaks the light into a scatter of small highlights across the glass rather than one even glow, while the black finish keeps the fitting understated and easy to place against almost any wall colour.

How it works

Liila 1 Large takes a single G9 lamp (7W) and is designed to be used interchangeably as a wall light or a flush ceiling light. It's a hardwired fixture, so it needs to be connected by a qualified electrician rather than plugged in. The glass globe measures roughly 20cm across, the backplate is 25.5cm across, and the fitting projects 23cm from the wall or ceiling.

Where it works best

Its larger scale suits entrance halls, stairwells and living rooms where you want a single, sculptural light with more presence than the smaller Liila sizes. With an IP44 rating, it's also suitable for installation in a bathroom, provided it's positioned in a zone that permits IP44 fittings. For guidance on which parts of a bathroom that covers, see our guide, Bathroom Lighting Zones and IP Ratings Explained: The Simple UK Guide.

About Nuura

Founded in Copenhagen in 2017, Nuura built Liila around a single, sculptural glass form rather than a cluster or chandelier, and the Large size is the boldest expression of that idea.

Questions People Ask

Does this fitting need an electrician to install? Yes, it is a hardwired Class I fitting. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Can I use it on the wall and on the ceiling? Yes. Liila 1 Large is designed to be used as either a wall light or a flush ceiling light.

Can it be used in a bathroom? It is IP44 rated, so it is suitable for bathroom zones that permit IP44 fittings. Check the bathroom lighting zones guide before choosing its position.

Which light bulb does it take, and can it be dimmed? It takes one G9 LED lamp, 7W maximum, which is not supplied. It can be dimmed if you fit a dimmable LED lamp that suits your dimmer circuit.

What does the glass look like, and will mine match the photos exactly? The globe is mouth blown optic clear glass with a fine ribbed texture. Because it is made by hand, each globe can differ slightly, and screens show colour differently. Please call customer service if you are unsure.

Can I return it if I change my mind? No. Nuura fittings are made to order, so they are non-returnable once ordered, unless an item arrives faulty.
