The Mullan Tahiti Rope Pendant IP65 is a fitting that brings texture, craft and a relaxed coastal sensibility together in a single piece. A 1.5 metre jute rope suspends the shade from the ceiling rose, with the natural fibre of the rope adding warmth and organic character that metal cables simply cannot provide. The IP65 rating makes this pendant suitable for outdoor covered spaces as well as indoor areas exposed to moisture, opening up installation possibilities that most ceramic or glass pendants cannot match. Whether hung above an outdoor dining area, inside a covered veranda, in a kitchen above a sink, or in a bathroom with steam and humidity, the Tahiti is built for it.
Mullan Lighting has been handcrafting lights in Mullan Village, County Monaghan, Ireland, since 2009, when architect Mike Treanor began the restoration of a derelict 19th century flax mill and established what is now one of Ireland's most respected lighting studios. The brand employs over 100 craftspeople and exports to more than 55 countries, with a reputation built on the quality of its materials, the skill of its artisans and a design philosophy that draws from both the industrial heritage of the mill and the natural landscape of the village. The Tahiti sits within a range of rope and natural material pendants that represent Mullan's exploration of sustainable, tactile materials beyond ceramics.
Hung above an outdoor dining table the Tahiti creates an atmosphere that is relaxed and considered in equal measure, the jute rope adding a rustic, artisanal quality that makes an outdoor eating space feel genuinely designed rather than simply furnished. Indoors it works well in kitchens, bathrooms, garden rooms and any space where you want natural texture and a more casual sensibility to the lighting. The pendant is also an excellent choice for hospitality and commercial environments where durability and visual impact both matter.
Available in antique brass, antique silver, natural brass, matte black, polished brass and satin brass fittings. The IP65 certification means total protection against dust and protection against water jets from any direction, making this one of the most versatile pendants in the Mullan collection. Bathroom Zone Rating: This fitting is IP65 rated and suitable for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 of a bathroom. Zone 1 covers the area directly above the bath or shower up to 2.25m from the floor; Zone 2 covers the area beyond 0.6m from the edge of the bath or shower. IP65 provides total dust protection and protection against water jets from any direction.
