Marbled Ceramic: Timeless Natural Quality in a Tall Pendant

The Pando Pendant in Marbled finish is a 30cm tall, 14cm wide handmade ceramic pendant with the timeless visual quality of hand painted marbled stone in a tall, upright form. At 14cm wide the swirling tones of cream, warm grey and natural stone have a concentrated quality that makes the pendant visually interesting both at close range and from across the room. The pattern is applied individually at Mullan Village before firing. No two pieces carry an identical marbling. A pendant that rewards looking at closely, and that improves with time rather than dating.

How It Works

The open ceramic shade faces downward, directing the E27 bulb's light into the room. Without a glass shade the marbled ceramic does all the visual work, the tones reading differently in natural daylight and warm evening light. A warm white dimmable E27 LED suits the marbled finish well.

Where It Works Best

The Marbled Pando suits dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and living rooms where a pendant with genuine decorative quality and a tall sculptural profile is wanted. The marbled finish works across a very wide range of interior styles and pairs naturally with natural stone, warm timber, aged brass and soft neutral textiles. Group two or three above a longer surface for a considered arrangement.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the marbling technique by drawing on the layered stone and mineral textures of the Irish landscape. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

What bulb does the Pando Pendant take?
It takes a standard E27 screw fit bulb, maximum 40W. Bulb not included. A warm white LED E27 suits the marbled finish well.

Will my pendant look exactly like the photo?
The marbling is hand painted so the pattern on your piece will differ from the photos. The tones will be consistent but the character of the marbling is unique to every piece.

Is this suitable for a bathroom?
The Pando Pendant is IP20 rated and suitable for dry indoor areas only. It is not certified for bathroom wet zones.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
