Marbled Ceramic and IP44 for a Timeless Bathroom Pendant
The Kirhii Pendant in Marbled finish is a wide, low IP44 bathroom pendant, 13.7cm tall and 27cm wide, with a ceramic shade hand painted in soft cream, warm grey and stone tones. The marbling is worked into the surface individually on every piece, so the pattern shifts slightly each time and no two Kirhii Marbled pendants are quite alike. That natural variation, combined with a neutral, quietly luxurious palette, gives the finish a timeless quality that suits a bathroom meant to last well beyond the latest trend.
How It Works
Beneath the marbled ceramic shade sits a glass diffuser, which provides the IP44 rating and softens the E27 bulb's light into an even glow across the room. The marbled surface stays visible in profile even when lit, giving the fitting a quiet, sculptural presence on the ceiling whether it is switched on or off. It is compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs for full control over brightness and mood.
Where It Works Best
Above a freestanding bath, the Kirhii Marbled pairs naturally with stone, pale timber and warm metal tapware, letting the ceramic pattern do the work of a feature without introducing a strong colour. In a shower room or wet room finished in natural stone or pale tile, the marbling reads as a quiet, considered detail rather than a bold statement. Rated for Zone 2, it can be positioned in the area beyond 0.6m from the edge of a bath or shower.
The Story Behind Mullan
Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the marbling technique used across the collection, drawing on the layered stone and mineral textures of the landscape surrounding the village. More than 100 craftspeople now work at the studio, and every piece is made entirely to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass, with finished lights exported to more than 55 countries.

FAQs
Which bathroom zone is this rated for?
The Kirhii Pendant is IP44 rated for Zone 2, the area beyond 0.6m from the edge of a bath or shower where protection against water splashing from any direction is required. It is not suitable for Zone 0 or Zone 1. Please check with your installer if you are unsure which zone applies.
Can I use this above a freestanding bath?
Yes, provided the installation point falls within Zone 2. Your NICEIC electrician will confirm the exact zone based on the position of the bath and the proposed hanging point.
Will every marbled pendant look the same?
No. The marbling is hand painted onto each shade individually, so the pattern and tone vary naturally from piece to piece.
Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.
