Mullan Kingii Pendant - Marbled with Finish Options

Marbled Ceramic and IP44: Timeless Quality in the Bathroom

The Kingii Pendant in Marbled finish brings the timeless visual quality of hand painted marbled ceramic into bathrooms and wet environments with a full IP44 waterproof certification. At 20cm tall and 20cm wide it has a sculptural presence on the bathroom ceiling that is genuinely unusual for an IP rated fitting. The swirling tones of cream, warm grey and natural stone are applied individually at Mullan Village before firing. No two pieces carry an identical pattern, which means every Kingii Marbled that leaves the studio is, in the truest sense, one of a kind.

How It Works

Supplied with a glass diffuser for wet environment compliance. The E27 bulb sits within the shade, the glass diffuser softening and diffusing the light downward and outward into the bathroom. The marbled ceramic body sits above, the tones shifting as the quality of light around it changes through the day. A warm white dimmable E27 LED suits the marbled finish well in a bathroom setting, the ceramic tones revealing their layered depth at lower evening light levels.

Where It Works Best

Above a freestanding bath the Marbled Kingii creates a focal point of genuine luxury and considered design. In a shower room, wet room or humid bathroom it brings the timeless quality of marbled natural stone to a practical space. The marbled finish pairs across a very wide range of interior styles and pairs well with natural stone, polished plaster, white tiles and both warm and cool metal hardware.

The Story Behind Mullan

Mullan Lighting was founded in 2009 by architect Mike Treanor, who restored a derelict 19th century flax mill in Mullan Village, County Monaghan. Ceramicist Stephen Kieran developed the marbling technique by drawing on the layered stone and mineral textures of the Irish landscape surrounding the village. Over 100 craftspeople work at the studio and every piece is made to order using sustainable clay and recycled brass.

FAQs

Which bathroom zone is this rated for?
The Kingii Pendant is IP44 rated for Zone 2, the area beyond 0.6m from the edge of a bath or shower where protection against water splashing from any direction is required. It is not suitable for Zone 0 or Zone 1. Please check with your installer if you are unsure which zone applies to your installation point.

Will my pendant look exactly like the photo?
The marbling is hand painted so the pattern on your piece will differ from the photos. The tones will be consistent, cream, warm grey and natural stone, but the character of the marbling is unique to every piece.

Can I use a dimmable bulb?
Yes. Compatible with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. Ensure your dimmer switch is rated for LED use. Bulb not included.

Can I use this above a freestanding bath?
Yes, provided the installation point falls within Zone 2. Your NICEIC electrician will confirm the exact zone based on the position of the bath and the proposed hanging point.

Can I return it?
No. Every Mullan light is made to order, so it cannot be returned unless it arrives faulty or damaged. If anything is wrong when it arrives, please contact us as soon as possible.
