Mitzi Angie 2 Light Wall Sconce Light - Aged Brass & Black

A shade with a waistline

Angie borrows an idea from tailoring, a glass shade wrapped in a band of metal that has been pulled in at the middle, like a belt cinched around a coat. The result is two small pools of light, one above and one below the waist, set inside a fixture that reads as more small sculpture than standard sconce. It's a two light design, so it can happily stand alone as a single statement rather than needing a pair.

Aged brass and black finish

Here the metal wrap is finished in black while the mounting hardware carries the warmth of aged brass, so the eye picks out the silhouette of the shade first and the fixing second. It's a combination that reads equally well against darker, moodier wall colours and lighter neutral schemes, and it sits comfortably alongside warm metal door and cabinet hardware elsewhere in the room.

How it works

Two G9 LED bulbs, up to 4W each, sit inside a clear glass shade that twist locks into place for easy bulb changes. The fixture stands 38.1cm tall on a round backplate of about 12cm, and projects roughly 14.6cm from the wall, with the shade itself measuring around 12cm at its widest point. Being hardwired, it's fixed in one position rather than plugged in, so it needs a switched connection at the wall.

Where it works best

With two bulbs in a compact footprint, Angie gives a little more light than a single globe sconce while still staying narrow enough for tighter spots, a hallway pinch point, either side of a console table, or flanking artwork on a living room wall. Its shallow projection of under 15cm also makes it a practical choice for landings and corridors where wall space is at a premium.
