Where the white and anthracite versions of Lotus fade into the background, this black 1.4m bar does the opposite: it reads as a deliberate stripe against the wall by day, then disappears into a glow once the integrated LED switches on.

Choosing Black At 1.4m

Lotus is available in four finishes, black, white, anthracite and rust brown, across two lengths, 1.2m and 1.4m. Black is the strongest contrast option of the four, and works best against pale or neutral walls where you want the fitting itself to register as a design feature rather than blend in. This is the longer 1.4m bar; the same finish is also made in a shorter 1.2m size if your wall run is tighter.

How It Works

The 1.4m bar houses a single 24W integrated LED producing around 2300 lumens at a warm 3000K colour temperature. Light is emitted sideways from a concealed strip behind the black aluminium body, spreading across the wall at roughly 120 degrees rather than throwing a directional beam. As with the rest of the range, the LED is built in rather than replaceable, and the fitting is Class I, so it must be earthed on installation.

Where It Works Best

The black finish and generous 1.4m length suit spaces with a more contemporary, high contrast palette, a dark hallway wall, either side of a media wall, or as a matched pair flanking a bed. It carries an IP54 rating and sits within our Indoor Lights range, which also makes it a workable choice for bathroom zones 2 and 3 if a darker fitting suits the room better than a white or chrome alternative. Will this work in a bathroom?

Is the black finish glossy or matt?
The finish is a matt black rather than a high gloss, which keeps reflections and fingerprints to a minimum on a fitting mounted at eye or shoulder height.
