A Compact Stainless Steel Step Light with a Slot Accent
The LuxR Modux 4 Step Light with Slot is a very small recessed step light. Its main beam is a wash that spreads 5º below the flange lip and 10º above. A narrow slot opposite the main beam adds a fine decorative accent. The body is only 41mm across, with a 58mm flange.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
This version is precision machined from marine grade 316 stainless steel, which gives a clean, cool metal finish that suits modern steps and paving. The light source is a replaceable 4 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, which helps brick and stone look true to colour.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
The fitting is recessed into a wall, with a cut out of 43.5mm. It runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it to light the wall beside a flight of steps, the step treads themselves, the space above a doorway, or as a small wayfinder along a path. It is also available in the larger M2 size.

What size hole do I need for the stainless steel step light with slot?
The cut out is 43.5mm. The recessed body is 41mm in diameter and 62mm long, and the flange sits on the surface at 58mm across.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.
What does the slot do?
The main beam washes light along the step. The narrow slot opposite it adds a fine decorative accent, so the fitting does more than a plain step light.
What is the stainless steel made from?
It is marine grade 316 stainless steel, machined precisely and rated IP68 for protection against dust and water.
Can I change the LED later?
