A Small Copper Recessed Step Light
The LuxR Modux 4 Step Light is a small low voltage recessed light that gives a horizontal wash, 5º below the flange lip and 10º above it. It is made to be set into a wall or riser beside steps.
Copper That Gains a Natural Patina
This version is precision machined from copper. It starts out warm and bright, then develops a natural patina outdoors, so it gradually blends into brick, stone or timber. The light source is a replaceable 4 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
The light is recessed into the surface and throws a horizontal wash across it. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it to light the wall beside step treads, the treads themselves, the space above a doorway, or as a path wayfinder. It is also available in the Micro and M2.

How does the light fall on the steps?
It gives a horizontal wash, 5º below the flange lip and 10º above, so it lights the surface beside it.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish will soften and darken gradually. This is normal.
What cut-out size do I need?
Please check the product spec sheet, or contact us, for the recessed body and cut-out sizes before you cut a hole.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
