A Compact Copper Spike Spot for Borders and Trees
The LuxR Modux 4 Spike Spot is a very small low voltage outdoor spotlight on a solid 175mm spike that pushes straight into garden soil. The body is 41mm across and 65mm long, so it sits discreetly among planting while it lights a shrub, a tree or a piece of garden furniture. The light source is a 4 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus.
Solid Copper That Ages Beautifully
This version is machined from copper. It starts out bright and warm, then gradually develops a soft natural patina outdoors, so it settles into the garden rather than standing out from it. For a cool silver finish, the same spike spot is also made in marine grade 316 stainless steel.
Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens
- Beam: 26º is a narrow beam for a single feature, 36º is a medium beam, and 74º is a wide wash for planting and lower shrubs.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.
How It Works
Push the spike into the soil and angle the head towards your subject. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width, so you can change the look later without buying a new light.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
This is a good choice for borders, pots and the base of a tree, where you want a movable light that can be repositioned as the planting grows. Use it on its own for a single feature, or in a group to build a layered scheme. If you want a smaller or larger fitting, the same design is also available in M1 and M2.
