A Small Copper Recessed Spotlight for Walls and Decks
The LuxR Modux 4 Round Recessed is a very small low voltage outdoor spotlight that sits in a surface with only a slim round flange showing. The light source is a 4 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so stone, timber and planting look true to colour.
Solid Copper With a Natural Patina
This version is machined from copper. It starts out bright and warm, then gradually develops a soft natural patina outdoors, so it settles into brick, timber and planting as it ages. For a cool silver finish, the same spotlight is also made in marine grade 316 stainless steel.
Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens
- Beam: 26º is a narrow beam for a single feature, 36º is a medium beam, and 74º is a wide wash for a broader area.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.
How It Works
The fitting is recessed into a wall, deck, step or other surface using a 43.5mm cut out. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
This is a good choice for lighting a wall, a feature or a tree from a built in position, where a spike mounted spotlight would be in the way. Several fittings together make a tidy, repeating pattern along a wall or deck. The same design is also available in M1 and M2 sizes.

Which beam angle should I choose?
Choose 26º to light a single feature, 36º for a medium sized area and 74º for a broad wash across a wall or planting.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish softens and darkens gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.
What size hole does it need?
The cut out size is 43.5mm. The fitting comes with 1m of cable.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The 4 watt Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
