A Stainless Steel Path Light With a Half Circle 180º Flange

The LuxR Modux 4 PL2 180 is a very small low voltage path light with a 180º flange, so it lights half a circle around the fitting. The brand states it gives a wash of light 5º below the flange lip and 10º above. It is a good way to light a wall surface or to act as a path light wayfinder. The light source is a 4 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus.

Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel

This version is precision machined in marine grade 316 stainless steel, a metal made for outdoor use in rain, frost and coastal air. It keeps a crisp, silver look that suits paving, render and contemporary planting. For a warmer finish that ages over time, the same light is also made in copper.

Choose Your Colour Temperature

• 2200K: a very warm, candle like glow.
• 2700K and 3000K: warm white, comfortable beside planting and timber.
• 4000K: a crisper neutral white that suits modern stone and steel.

How It Works

The fitting is recessed into a wall, step riser or other surface using a 43.5mm cut out, with the flange facing the area you want to light. The 180º flange spreads light across a half circle, so it covers more ground than the 90º PL1. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.

Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Choose the 180º version for a straight wall or the edge of a path, where light only needs to go out in front of the fitting. It works well along a garden wall, in a retaining wall or beside steps. The same design is also available with 90º, opposite facing, 270º and 360º flanges, and in the Micro and M2 sizes.

Questions People Ask

What is the difference between the PL1 and the PL2 180?

The flange is the difference. The PL1 has a 90º flange and lights a quarter turn. The PL2 180 has a 180º flange and lights a half circle, so it suits a flat wall or path edge.

Does it come with a driver?

No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.

Is the stainless steel suitable for outdoors?

Yes. It is marine grade 316 stainless steel, chosen for outdoor use, and the fitting is rated IP68.

What size hole does it need?

The cut out size is 43.5mm. The fitting comes with 1m of cable.

Can I change the LED later?
