A Small Copper Louvre Wash Light for Timber and Steps
The LuxR Modux 4 Louvre Recessed is a very small low voltage washer that gives an attractive wash of light, often used to light stair treads. This version is made from copper, which looks very much at home recessed into timber.
Copper That Ages Beautifully
Copper starts out warm and bright, then gradually develops a natural patina outdoors, so the louvre blends into oak steps, decking and sleepers over time. The light source is a replaceable 4 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- 2200K: a very warm glow that suits copper and timber.
- 2700K and 3000K: warm white, a good all round choice.
- 4000K: a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
Recess the fitting into a 43.5mm cut out. The louvre gives an asymmetric wash that spreads light across the surface beside it. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
It works well on stair treads, timber decking, step risers and wall bases, anywhere you want a wash of light rather than a spot. If you need a bigger flange, there is also a Large Louvre version. It is also available in M2.

What is a louvre wash light used for?

What size hole do I need?
You need a 43.5mm cut out.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish will soften and darken gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
