A Powder Coated Step Light With a Decorative Slot
The LuxR Modux 2 Step Light with Slot is a very small low voltage step light that casts a wash of light 5º below the flange lip and 10º above it. Opposite the main beam, a narrow slot adds a fine decorative accent. This version is UV powder coated aluminium, so you can match it to your window frames, rendering or timber.
Choose Your Colour and Colour Temperature
- Powder coat colour: Matt Black, Matt Bronze, Matt White or Matt Dark Grey. Black and bronze blend into the background, while white and dark grey give a more deliberate look.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
Recess the fitting into a 43.5mm cut out in a wall or step riser. It runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The 2 watt Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it to light steps, to wash the wall beside a staircase, to mark a doorway, or as a path wayfinder. The slot adds a small accent on the opposite side. It is also available in M4.

What does the slot do?
The main beam gives a horizontal wash, 5º below the flange lip and 10º above. The narrow slot on the opposite side produces a fine decorative accent, with a very narrow upwards beam.
What size hole do I need?
You need a 43.5mm cut out.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered electrician installs it.
Can I return a white or dark grey one?
Matt White and Matt Dark Grey are marked Non-Returnable in the colour selector, which means they cannot be returned once ordered. Physical colour swatches are available on request if you want to check first.
Can I change the LED later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
