A Copper Step Light for Warm, Low Level Lighting
The LuxR Modux 2 Step Light is a very small low voltage step light that produces a wash of light 5º below the flange lip and 10º above. The recessed body is 41mm across and 62mm long, with a round flange 58mm across.
Copper That Develops a Natural Patina
This version is made from copper. It starts warm and bright, then slowly develops a soft natural patina outdoors, so it settles into the step or wall rather than standing out. The light source is a 2 watt Cree LED.
Choose Your Colour Temperature
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow that suits copper well, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
How It Works
The step light is recessed into a wall or step riser using a 43.5mm cut out, with the light washing across the tread. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it to light the wall beside step treads, the treads themselves, the space above a doorway, or as a path wayfinder. Copper looks especially good against brick, timber and natural stone. Moonlight Design uses LuxR fittings in its own garden lighting designs and installations. It is also available in Micro and M4.

Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish will soften and darken gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.
