A Copper Spike Spot with a Glare Guard for Soft, Comfortable Lighting
The LuxR Modux 2 Spike Spot with Glare Guard is a very small low voltage outdoor spotlight on a solid 175mm spike that pushes into garden soil. The glare guard is fitted to the front of the head to cut down glare from the fitting, which makes the body 115mm long and 41mm across.
Copper That Develops a Natural Patina
This version is made from copper. It starts out warm and bright, then gradually develops a soft natural patina outdoors, so it settles into the garden over the years. The light source is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so foliage and stonework look true to colour.
Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens
- Beam: 26º is the narrowest beam for a single feature, 36º is a little wider for a shrub, and 74º spreads the light across a broader area.
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.
How It Works
Push the spike into the soil and angle the head towards your subject. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
The glare guard makes this a good choice where people will look towards the light, such as beside a seating area, a path or a terrace. Copper suits natural planting and warm brick or timber. Moonlight Design uses LuxR fittings in its own garden lighting designs and installations. The same design is also available as the M1 and M4.

What does the glare guard do?
It is fitted to the front of the head to cut down glare from the fitting. It also makes the body 115mm long, compared with 65mm for the spike spot without one.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish will soften and darken gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.
Which beam angle should I choose?
Choose 26º to light a single feature, 36º for a shrub or small tree, and 74º for a wider spread.
Can I change the LED later?
