A Compact Stainless Steel Spike Spot for Planting and Trees

The LuxR Modux 2 Spike Spot is a very small low voltage outdoor spotlight on a solid 175mm spike that pushes straight into garden soil. The body is 41mm across and 65mm long, so it tucks into borders without drawing attention to itself.

Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel

This version is precision machined in marine grade 316 stainless steel. It has a clean, cool metal look that sits well beside stone, gravel and modern planting. The light source is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so foliage and stonework look true to colour.

Choose Your Beam, Colour and Lens

• Beam: 26º is the narrowest beam and picks out a single feature, 36º is a little wider for a shrub or small tree, and 74º spreads the light across a broader patch of planting.
• Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
• Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.

How It Works

Push the spike into the soil and angle the head towards your subject. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.

Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

This is a good choice for lighting the base of a tree, a clump of ornamental grasses or a feature shrub, wherever you want a neat fitting that stays out of the way. Moonlight Design uses LuxR fittings in its own garden lighting designs and installations. The same design is also available as the M1 and M4.
