A Small Copper Spike Spot for Garden Borders
The LuxR Modux 2 Spike Spot is a small low voltage outdoor spotlight on a solid metal spike that pushes straight into garden soil.
Copper That Weathers Naturally
This version is precision machined from copper. It starts out bright and warm, then slowly develops a soft natural patina outdoors, so each fitting gradually takes on its own character. The light source is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus. Plants and stonework look true to colour.
Choose Your Options
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Beam: 26º is the narrowest, 36º is a medium beam and 74º is the widest, for more spread.
- Lens: clear gives the sharpest beam, while frosted softens the edges of the light.
How It Works
Push the spike into the soil and angle the head towards your subject. The fitting runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, and it is wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. A 1m cable is supplied. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Use it in borders, beside shrubs or at the base of a tree, anywhere you want to move the light as the planting grows. It is also available in the M1 and M4.

How big is the Modux 2 spike spot?
The body is 41mm in diameter and 65mm long, on a 175mm spike.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.
Which beam angle should I choose?
Choose 26º for a single feature, 36º for a medium spread, and 74º for a wide wash across a larger shrub or border.
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish softens and darkens gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.
Can I change the LED or beam later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
