Clean Lines and a Quarter Circle of Light
The LuxR Modux 2 PL1 is a compact low voltage path light that recesses into a surface. Its 90º flange throws light through one quarter of a circle, giving a defined edge of light on one side. According to the brand, the wash falls 5º below the flange lip and 10º above, which lets it wash a wall surface or act as a path light wayfinder.
Built From Marine Grade 316 Stainless
Precision machined from marine grade 316 stainless steel, this version keeps a clean, cool, silvery finish and is chosen for outdoor use. With its IP68 rating it is a sensible choice for wet or coastal gardens. Behind the flange sits a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so plants and stonework look true to colour. In a 90º flange, the crisp metal look stays neutral against stone and paving.
Choose Your Options
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Flange angle: each flange angle is sold as its own listing. The PL range comes in 90º, 180º, 2x90º opposite, 270º and 360º, in copper or stainless steel.
How It Works
The fitting recesses into a 43.5mm cut out. It is supplied with 1m of H05RN-F cable and runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Choose this one for light in a single direction, such as washing one stretch of wall or marking one side of a path. It is a good fit for walls, edges and borders where you want a crisp, clean metal look that stays neutral against stone and paving. If you need a different size, the same design is also available in the Micro and M4.

Questions People Ask
What size hole does the PL1 path light need?
It needs a 43.5mm cut out, and the flange has an 11mm depth. It is supplied with 1m of cable.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.
Which flange angle should I choose?
The 90º flange (PL1) lights one quarter of a circle, the 180º (PL2) lights half, the 270º (PL3) lights three quarters and the 360º (PL4) lights all the way round. The 2x90º Opposite version lights two quarters facing opposite ways. This listing is the 90º version.
Is stainless steel right for outdoors?
Yes. It is made from marine grade 316 stainless steel and is rated IP68, so it is built for outdoor use.
Can I change the LED or beam later?
