Warm Light in One Direction From a 90º Flange

Set into a surface, the LuxR Modux 2 PL1 is a small low voltage path light that gives out a gentle quarter circle of light through its 90º flange. Use it where light belongs on one side only. The brand states that the wash falls 5º below the flange lip and 10º above, so it can light a wall surface or work as a path light wayfinder.

Copper That Settles Into the Garden

Precision machined from copper, this fitting arrives bright and warm. Outdoors it slowly develops a soft natural patina, so each one gradually takes on its own character and sits quietly among the planting. Inside is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so plants and stonework look true to colour. A 90º flange in copper suits spots where the warm tone of copper settles in next to brick, timber and planting.

Choose Your Options

• Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
• Flange angle: each flange angle is sold as its own listing. The PL range comes in 90º, 180º, 2x90º opposite, 270º and 360º, in copper or stainless steel.

How It Works

The fitting recesses into a 43.5mm cut out. It is supplied with 1m of H05RN-F cable and runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.

Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Choose this one for light in a single direction, such as washing one stretch of wall or marking one side of a path. It is a good fit for walls, edges and borders where the warm tone of copper settles in next to brick, timber and planting. Questions People Ask

What size hole does the PL1 path light need?

It needs a 43.5mm cut out, and the flange has an 11mm depth. It is supplied with 1m of cable.

Does it come with a driver?

No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.

Which flange angle should I choose?

The 90º flange (PL1) lights one quarter of a circle, the 180º (PL2) lights half, the 270º (PL3) lights three quarters and the 360º (PL4) lights all the way round. The 2x90º Opposite version lights two quarters facing opposite ways. This listing is the 90º version.

Will the copper change colour?

Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish softens and darkens gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.

Can I change the LED or beam later?

Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
