Warm Light Running Both Ways
Two 90º openings face opposite directions on the LuxR Modux 2 PL2 Opposite, a small recessed low voltage path light. Light travels both ways along a path or wall, and the two sides in between stay dark. The brand states that the wash falls 5º below the flange lip and 10º above, so it can light a wall surface or work as a path light wayfinder.
Copper With a Patina to Come
Precision machined from copper, this version starts out bright and warm. Over time outdoors it develops a soft natural patina, so each fitting gradually takes on its own character and softens into the planting. Its light source is a 2 watt Cree LED with a CRI of 90 plus, so plants and stonework look true to colour. A 2x90º flange in copper suits spots where the warm tone of copper settles in next to brick, timber and planting.
Choose Your Options
- Colour temperature: 2200K is a very warm glow, 2700K and 3000K are warm white, and 4000K is a crisper neutral white.
- Flange angle: each flange angle is sold as its own listing. The PL range comes in 90º, 180º, 2x90º opposite, 270º and 360º, in copper or stainless steel.
How It Works
The fitting recesses into a 43.5mm cut out. It is supplied with 1m of H05RN-F cable and runs on low voltage, so it needs a suitable constant current driver, which is not included, wired in series. It is dimmable when paired with a suitable dimmable driver. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting should be installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Where It Works Best
Choose this one for light in both directions along a straight run such as a path or wall. It is a good fit for walls, edges and borders where the warm tone of copper settles in next to brick, timber and planting. If you need a different size, the same design is also available in the Micro and M4.

Questions People Ask
What size hole does the PL2 path light need?
It needs a 43.5mm cut out, and the flange has an 11mm depth. It is supplied with 1m of cable.
Does it come with a driver?
No. It is a low voltage fitting and needs a suitable constant current driver, sold separately. A dimmable driver lets you dim the light. We recommend a registered NICEIC electrician installs it.
Which flange angle should I choose?
The Opposite version has two 90º openings facing opposite ways, so it lights both directions along a path or wall. The other options are 90º (one quarter), 180º (half), 270º (three quarters) and 360º (all the way round).
Will the copper change colour?
Yes. Copper develops a natural patina outdoors over time, so the finish softens and darkens gradually. This is normal and is part of its appeal.
Can I change the LED or beam later?
Yes. The Cree LED can be replaced or swapped for a colour LED, and the optic can be changed to alter the beam width.
